after 20 years sober,you have been drinking 12 years? Is it true that ‘you pick up where you left off and it becomes progressively worse’ in terms of consumption of alcohol?

I know I am an alcohollic, the disease is progressive and there is no such thing as ‘controlled’ drinking for me. However, I am not coping well. I am buying a mickey every 2 days ‘to take the edge off’. My son has severe autism. Women in Recovery 8 years agoI need someone to share their experience strength and hope. After 16.5 years sober, I am now drinking. I believe step 1. I need to be convinced there is a god. Janet, I have less than 2 years so I am not sure I can provide anything helpful to you, but I have a sponsor, go to 3 – 5 meetings a week, and work the steps.
