• Excellent write up in taking the steps. Thanks!!!

  • With Mother’s Day here, I am fortunate enough to have some great mothers in my life to celebrate with. Being clean and sober for myself means that I can be an active participant in the lives of these great women. […]

  • Hi Emma. Welcome! Firstly, congratulations on 10 months of sobriety! What a great achievement. But being sober/clean by itself doesn’t solve the problems in our lives. Which is likely what you’re experiencing now. I know it because I’ve lived it myself. I went through a mental breakdown after 2.5 years sober.

My suggestion to someone who is…[Read more]

Good job coming to this realization, Rosemary! And welcome here. Whether or not you believe you’re alcoholic (by the definition), you can still practice one day at a time.

  • I had a pretty messed up upbringing. My family life as a child was filled with mental, verbal and physical abuse. My parents were divorced before I can even remember. My dad was present but absent at the same […]

    • I suffered a different type of abuse.. it was more of mental and physical abuse. my mother would have never support alcohol or drug abuse however here we are. My sister is a recovered drug a user and I could not be more proud. I always felt that I was alright up until recently. I am definitely drinking more than what is typical for your average adult. I have a marriage that is not great and a job that requires more than any person can deal with. I’m going on 7 years on my job. I cannot deal with my past issues and current issues. I’m dealin with alcohol and that is not alright. I need support

J, you’ve come to a great place for support, and I pray that you will stick around and get it. The other thing is to ask God to help. Seek him with your whole heart, and you will find Him

For I know the plans I have for you”  — this is the Lord ’s declaration — “plans for your well-being, not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. You will call to me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you search for me with all your heart.

He will help, and so will everyone that’s here, we have all been there

  • I totally relate. I didn’t attend my own brothers wedding because I was too busy getting smashed in Detroit. Even though you can’t make direct amends in Step 9, you can make an indirect amends, which you did, by writing it down. I had to do the same thing when my mom died of an overdose and I needed to make amends.

  • The worst thing I ever did – and that would be an absurdly long list, if I had to write it all down (yeah, I have, but I won’t share it here) – still haunts me. And I’ve got myself to blame for that. To a certain […]

What are the tools that you have found most helpful to achieve sobriety, one day at a time?
